About

The Darwin Bowls and Social Club (Inc) was formed in 1959, and originally the bowling surface was shredded rubber!

The clubhouse and greens were lucky survivors of Cyclone Tracy on Xmas eve 1974.

Over the years grass greens were installed and the club now has two turf greens. Both greens have had major renovations over the last few years, including the installation of new drainage and irrigation, soil replacement, and the introduction of a tiff hybrid grass bred in Cairns specifically for use in tropical conditions.

The Club is a predominately volunteer based club, and all staffing and club house maintenance, is done by dedicated volunteers, and all positions in the club (save for the green keeper and a part time bar person) are honorary.
